Karachi: The Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) has arrested two suspected terrorists in Mirpurkhas last night for their links with the Indian intelligence agency, Research and Analysis Wing (RAW) and Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM).
As per details, the CTD has been investigating a case involving former MQM leaders, including Anees advocate, Wasay Jalil and Dr Farooq Sattar.
Jalil and Anees advocate are accused of sending MQM men to India for training.
The CTD official said they have managed to identify at least six people who had gone to India for training.
The CTD DIG, Omar Shahid Hamid stated that his force found an anti-aircraft gun, hand grenade, riffles and a rocket from their hideout.
“Arrested accused Naeem has disclosed that he met Anees Advocate in Tehran,” CTD official said.
“We had summoned and questioned Anees Advocate. He will be summoned again,” added DIG CTD.
Authorities revealed that, Anees Advocate has been prohibited from going out of the country and the charge-sheet will be filed after gathering more evidence.
In addition, the CNIC of the former MQM leader has also been blocked.
The officials claimed that the arrested men have also got training from India and were also in contact with Wasay Jalil and others.
“The arrested men were given a task to gather intelligence in Mirpurkhas and Umarkot,” they added.
