PIA given green light to resume flights to Canada
Islamabad: Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) has announced the resumption of direct flights to Toronto, Canada.
As per spokesman, Canadian authorities had allowed PIA to resume flights to Toronto.
Operations had earlier been restricted to cargo only on Pakistan to Canada routes, in a bid to contain the spread of novel coronavirus. However, other travel related advisories pertaining to Canada are likely to remain in place.
In the first phase, the national flag carrier will be operating three direct flights per week from Pakistan to Toronto, following strict Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
Travellers from Pakistan will be required to get a PCR test in the country in order to board a flight to Canada.
Meanwhile, Canada has extended its ban on incoming passenger flights from India by another 30 days.
The flight ban from India was set to expire Monday has been renewed several times amid surging situation of deadly virus.
Passengers who depart from India are directed to get a valid COVID-19 test result from a third country before boarding a flight to Canada.
