PM Shehbaz, Bilawal Bhutto discuss constitutional amendments
PPP and the government agreed that senior leaders would also play a role in the consultations
Islamabad: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Monday stated that amendments to the constitution and legislation are the prerogative of Parliament.
The delegation included National Assembly members Khursheed Shah, Naveed Qamar, and Karachi Mayor Murtaza Wahab. The government delegation consisted of Law Minister Azam Nazeer Tarar, Minister for Economic Affairs Ahad Khan Cheema, and Minister for Information Atta Tarar.
According to the statement, the meeting involved a detailed discussion on expanding consultations regarding the proposed constitutional amendment.
Both the PPP and the government delegation agreed that senior leaders would also play a role in the consultations, which would help in reaching a conclusion.
Shehbaz Sharif emphasized that Parliament is the supreme institution, and the 240 million people have given Parliament the mandate to legislate. The aim of the proposed constitutional amendment is to provide prompt and effective justice to the public.
The Prime Minister mentioned that consultations with all political parties regarding the constitutional amendment will continue.
