PPP, JUI-F unite on draft of constitutional package
Both party chiefs announced this during a press conference in Karachi
Karachi: Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI-F) and Pakistan People's Party (PPP) have agreed on common draft of constitutional amendment.
Addressing a joint press conference in Karachi on Tuesday night, JUI-F chief stated that both parties have agreed on the draft, and Bilawal Bhutto played a key role in reaching this consensus.
“We will strive to present a unanimous constitutional amendment,” Rehman said, adding that a meeting with PTI will also take place in Islamabad. “We are in continuous contact with PTI and we are hopeful of gaining the confidence of the entire assembly," he said.
Bilawal Bhutto Zardari stated that Maulana Fazlur Rehman will be meeting Nawaz Sharif tomorrow.
"There is a further need to build upon the consensus achieved today between the two parties," PPP Chairman said, adding that the PPP was also invited to the Nawaz-Fazl meeting.
He expressed optimism, saying that the agreement between JUI-F and PPP will serve as the foundation for the bill.
B ilawal hoped that the PPP-JUI-F consensus would convert into one with the PML-N as well. Bilawal said Fazl was desirous that this consensus included not only the government’s allied parties but also the PTI and other opposition parties.
