Former caretaker PM Mir Hazar Khan Khoso passes away
Islamabad: Former caretaker Prime Minister Mir Hazar Khan Khoso has passed away at the age of 92.
According to details, Mir Haza Khan had been undergoing treatment at a Quetta hospital for over a month. The news of his death has been confirmed by family and his funeral will be offered at 12 noon today in his native village Katbar Sharif.
Mir Hazar Khan has the honor of being the sixth caretaker premier in the history of country and 26th Prime Minister overall. He also served as Chief Justice of the Federal Shariah Court.
Born on September 03, 1929 in Azam Khan Khoso village of Jaffarabad district of Balochistan, he graduated from Sindh University in 1954 and obtained a law degree from Karachi University two years later.
During the last days of Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto's government, he became a temporary judge of the Balochistan High Court (BHC).
He was made a permanent judge by former president Zia-ul-Haq and retired as Chief Justice on September 29, 1991.
Less than a month after his retirement, he became the judge of the Federal Shariah Court and was later appointed as Chief Justice of the Federal Shariah Court on November 17, 1992 under Nawaz Sharif’s tenure.
Post 2008 general elections, Yousuf Raza Gilani was made the Prime Minister and after he was disqualified by Supreme Court of Pakistan (SCP), Raja Pervez Ashraf remained in office till the completion of Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) tenure, after which Mir Hazar Khan Khoso was elected caretaker Prime Minister.
