Resolution seeks to restore the special provisions under Article 370 under which Jammu and Kashmir enjoyed autonomy
Srinagar: The Illegal Indian Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK) Assembly passed a resolution to restore Article 370 of the Indian Constitution.
According to Kashmir Media Service, Deputy Chief Minister and National Conference leader Surinder Singh Chaudhry presented the resolution to restore Article 370.
The Speaker of the Occupied Jammu and Kashmir Assembly, Abdul Rahim Rather, sought the opinion of the members, on which the majority of the Assembly members, except the Bhartia Janta Party (BJP), supported the resolution, after which the Speaker officially approved it.
During the meeting, the BJP MLAs also tried to snatch copies of the draft agreement from the People's Democratic Party (PDP), on which the sergeant-at-arms threw out the agitating BJP members.
The resolution moved by Surinder Singh Chaudhry seeks to restore the special provisions under Article 370 under which Jammu and Kashmir enjoyed autonomy.
It is pertinent to note that the Indian government unilaterally revoked Article 370 on August 5, 2019.
The outgoing Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of India also endorsed the repeal of Article 370 but also ordered state elections.
