Lahore: The severity of smog in various cities of Punjab, including Lahore and Multan, continues, and breathing in polluted air has become dangerous for human health.

The provincial capital Lahore is still ranked first in the world in terms of pollution. Despite the green lockdown, the Air Quality Index (AQI) has exceeded 700. In many areas of the city, it has gone above 1,000.

The air pollution in Multan has also become hazardous and many areas of the city are covered in heavy smog.

Health experts say, in this regard, that the cases of eye and throat infections have increased due to smog. More than 100,000 citizens have been affected in a month.

According to the meteorological department, the smog situation will remain the same for the next 10 days.

According to the Department of Environment, Lahore, Sheikhupura and Multan have been most affected by smog. All activities in private schools have been banned. Teachers' attendance will also be online and schools’ recreational trips and sports activities have also been banned.
