Heavy fog, smog reign in Punjab, motorways closed
Rain is likely in Lahore, Rawalpindi, Murree, Faisalabad, and Gujranwala from November 14 to 16
Lahore: Severe fog and smog continue to reign in Punjab, due to which the motorways have been closed for all types of traffic from several places due to low visibility.
Due to heavy fog and smog, the M2 Motorway from Sheikhupura to Kot Momin, M3 from Lahore to Darkhana, and M5 Motorway from Sher Shah to Zahir Pir have been closed.
The Lahore-Sialkot Motorway has also been closed due to heavy fog and smog.
Even at night, Lahore remained at first place among the most polluted cities in the world, while the Indian city of Delhi was at second and Kolkata at third place.
In the International Air Quality Index (AQI) of air pollution, Lahore recorded 581 particulate meters, Delhi 549, and Kolkata 194 particulate meters.
In Pakistan, Multan remained in second place with 563 particulate meters.
Some time ago, the number of particulate matter meters in Gulberg in Lahore was recorded at 742, while the number of particulate matter meters in the township was 694.
Lahore still ranks first in the world among cities with polluted air. Even the closure of educational institutions could not get Lahore out of the smog trap. However, the Meteorological Department has given good news to the citizens worried about the smog in Punjab.
According to the Meteorological Department, light rain is likely in most districts of Punjab including Lahore from tomorrow.
The Meteorological Department said that rain is likely in Lahore, Rawalpindi, Murree, Faisalabad, and Gujranwala from November 14 to 16, which will reduce the intensity of smog.
The Meteorological Department has also predicted rain in Attock, Chakwal, Mianwali, Khushab, and Sargodha, while on November 15, there is a possibility of thundershowers in Bhakkar, Layyah, and DG Khan.
