Power tariff likely to surge across country
According to NEPRA, Rs8.6 billion has been demanded for capacity charges
Islamabad: Electricity is likely to become more expensive across the country, including Karachi, in the form of quarterly adjustments.
The application was submitted for the first quarterly adjustment of the current financial year, according to which an additional collection of Rs8.72 billion will be made from electricity consumers.
National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) will hear the application of electricity distribution companies tomorrow.
According to NEPRA, Rs8.6 billion has been demanded for capacity charges, Rs1.25 billion for operations and maintenance, and Rs1.65 billion has been demanded for system charges and market operations fees.
Electricity consumers across the country are paying Rs1.74 per unit as quarterly adjustments.
Currently, the collection of the last quarterly adjustment of the previous financial year is being done which will end this month.
