A significant surge in Hajj applications has been observed this year

Karachi: The State Bank of Pakistan has directed designated banks to remain open on Saturdays and Sundays until 2:30pm to facilitate the collection of Hajj applications.
According to a spokesperson for the Ministry of Religious Affairs, the decision, taken at the ministry's request, ensures uninterrupted submission of Hajj applications until the deadline of December 3.
Meanwhile, a significant surge in Hajj applications has been observed this year due to the collection of expenses in installments. Over 29,000 applications have been received in the first 10 days alone, compared to only 1,300 during the same period last year.
Documents obtained by Samaa TV reveal that 28,895 individuals have applied under the government Hajj scheme, while 300 applications were submitted under the sponsorship scheme. Of these, 23,199 are for the standard Hajj program, 6,050 are for short Hajj, and 17,360 applicants have deposited an additional Rs55,500 for the optional sacrifice service.
Under the sponsorship scheme, applicants must pay the entire Hajj expense of $4,225 upfront. Meanwhile, those applying under the government scheme are required to initially deposit Rs250,000 with their application. If selected in the ballot, they will need to submit an additional Rs400,000, with the remaining amount due by February 10.
The Ministry of Religious Affairs has urged prospective pilgrims to take advantage of the extended banking hours to ensure timely submission of their applications.
