Two human smugglers including Libya accident suspect arrested
Accused used to provide fake visas for European countries, Dubai, and Canada
Islamabad: During the operations conducted by the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) Islamabad Zone, two human smugglers, including the accused involved in the Libyan boat accident, were arrested.
According to the FIA spokesperson, the accused have been identified as Azhar Iqbal and Muhammad Afzal. Azhar Iqbal has been found involved in the Libyan boat accident.
The accused was arrested from Usman Pura, Gujarat in a raid. He was found involved in collecting millions of rupees from innocent people by promising them jobs abroad. The accused received millions of rupees to illegally send a citizen to Europe via Libya who died in a boat accident.
In the second operation, the FIA arrested accused Muhammad Afzal from the Amarpura neighborhood, Rawalpindi. The accused used to provide fake visas for European countries, Dubai, and Canada to innocent citizens by receiving huge amounts of money.
The accused was wanted in the Islamabad zone for the last six years. A case was registered against him in the Anti-Human Trafficking Circle, Islamabad, in 2019. According to the initial investigation, the accused has been running an organized human trafficking network in Lahore as well.
According to the FIA spokesperson, the accused used to go into hiding by committing visa fraud and started operating from other cities. They have been arrested and an investigation is underway.
