New family law of UAE will be effective from April 2025

Abu Dhabi: New family laws have been announced for people living in the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
The new family laws will apply to both Emirati and foreign families.
Under the new family law, legal action will be taken against the misuse of children’s Emirati national cards and passports, and violations of family laws can result in fines and even imprisonment.
There will be penalties for violating laws related to child custody, and the age of custody of children has also been extended under the new laws.
Under the family laws, non-Muslim mothers have also been given the right to custody of children. 15-year-old children will be able to decide for themselves who they want to live with.
The new family law of the United Arab Emirates will be effective from April 2025.
