Government collected $4 million last year as fee

Kathmandu: Nepal has increased the fee for climbing Mount Everest, raising the spring season fee from $11,000 to $15,000.
According to the news agency, Nepal’s tourism department has increased the permit fee for climbing Mount Everest by one-third, saying it will help solve the pollution problem.
Tourism department director Narayan Prasad said that the fee has not been increased for a decade and now is the time to increase it.
Nepal is home to eight of the world’s 14 peaks above 8,000 meters and thousands of climbers visit here every year.
Foreign climbers spend thousands of dollars to climb Mount Everest, and last year, the government collected $4 million in this regard. This money is spent on cleaning the mountain and rescue operations.
