He said that 25pc tariff on imports of steel, aluminium products will apply to all countries

Washington: US President Donald Trump has imposed a 25 percent tariff on steel and aluminium imports.
Donald Trump has signed executive orders to impose a 25 percent tariff (tax) on steel and aluminium imported into the US from all countries.
On this occasion, Trump said: “We need to make steel and aluminum in our country, not in foreign countries. This is the best time for our industries to come back to the US, we want to bring them back”.
Trump stated that American industry has been damaged equally by both friendly and enemy countries, which needs to be fixed for the future of our country.
The US President further said that the 25 percent tariff on imports of steel and aluminium products will apply to all countries and no one will get a discount or exemption.
It is pertinent to note that US President Donald Trump imposed a 25 percent tariff (tax) on goods imported from Canada and Mexico earlier this month, while a 10 percent tariff was imposed on goods sent to the US from China.
In response to the US tariff, Canada and Mexico had also announced retaliatory tariffs on US imports, but later President Trump announced a suspension of the tariffs imposed on both countries for a month, after which Canada and Mexico also withdrew their announcements.
On the other hand, Trump had not withdrawn the tariff imposed on China, in response to which China had also maintained its decision to impose its own tariffs.
