Raids were carried out in Abbottabad, Skardu, Peshawar, Lahore, and Sialkot

Islamabad: The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) and the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) Cybercrime Wing conducted joint raids across the country against elements involved in the illegal sale of activated international SIM cards.
According to a statement issued by the PTA, these operations are part of the ongoing efforts to eradicate telecom fraud and protect national security. The raids were carried out in various cities including Abbottabad, Skardu, Peshawar, Lahore, and Sialkot.
The action was taken against individuals and businesses involved in the illegal sale and distribution of international SIM cards, the PTA stated.
According to the statement, these SIM cards were being used for fraud, unauthenticated connections, and other criminal activities.
During this, a large number of illegally activated SIM cards were seized by arresting the suspects. PTA and FIA are keeping a close watch on the purchase and sale of illegal SIM cards.
These SIMs pose a serious threat to public safety and enable unknown and untraceable connections.
