Sinch CM says authorities are collecting 15,000 tons of waste daily, with plans to turn it into 50 megawatts of electricity

(Web Desk): Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah has announced plans to distribute an additional 500,000 solar systems to poor families this year.
While speaking in Sukkur, he said that the government had initially planned to give out 200,000 solar systems under the Benazir Income Support Program (BISP). So far, 50,000 systems have been distributed, with the rest to be delivered soon.
Following a directive from Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto, an extra 500,000 solar systems will be given to low-income households later this year. This will help increase access to renewable energy for economically disadvantaged communities.
The Chief Minister also talked about a waste-to-energy project in Karachi. He mentioned that authorities are collecting 15,000 tons of waste daily, with plans to turn it into 50 megawatts of electricity. This project aims to reduce waste and contribute to the province's renewable energy goals.
Meanwhile, Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz also launched a free Solar Panel Scheme to help people reduce electricity bills. Under the scheme, 100,000 homes will receive free solar panels, costing Rs10 billion.
