Shiraz admits to beating and torturing Mustafa Amir in murder investigation

Karachi: The accused in the Mustafa Amir murder case, Shiraz, has told the police that the victim was first tortured, then beaten, and later taken to Hub in his car. The Anti-Terrorism Court has given the police a seven-day physical remand of the accused.

Shiraz was presented before the Anti-Terrorism Court in Karachi, where the court asked if the police had beaten him. Shiraz denied any mistreatment by the police.

The court then asked the accused to provide details, to which Shiraz explained that he had gone to Armaghan's house in Defence, where an argument took place. Armaghan, who is said to be the main suspect, reportedly beat Mustafa badly and then took him to Hub.

The court granted a physical remand for Shiraz until February 21 and sought a progress report for the next hearing.

Meanwhile, Mustafa Amir's mother has filed an application asking for permission to exhume her son’s body. The special court advised her to approach the judicial magistrate's court, as only the magistrate has the authority to order an exhumation.

In another development, the father of the accused, Armaghan, caused a disturbance in the anti-terrorism court. He tried to enter the judge’s chamber and demanded to speak with the judge. Kamran Qureshi, Armaghan's father, verbally abused the court police and pushed a police constable, Rizwan. Kamran claimed to be an American citizen and repeatedly insisted on meeting the judge. The situation escalated, and the police and Rangers were called to control the scene.

In connection with the abduction of a teen from Defence and the flawed investigation, several officers, including SHO Abdul Rashid, SIO Zulfiqar, and Investigation Officer ASI Iftikhar Ali Awan, have been suspended. Departmental action has been ordered against them.
