NCOC expresses concern over growing COVID cases, directs provinces to ensure strict implementation of SOPs on Eid ul Adha
Islamabad: The National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC) on Wednesday in a meeting expressed concern over the growing number of COVID cases in the country.

The meeting held under the chairmanship of the Federal Minister for Planning, Development, and Special Initiatives Asad Umar directed provinces to ensure the strict implementation of the coronavirus standard operating procedures on the occasion of Eid ul Adha.
During the meeting, a conversation related to the violations of the COVID SOPs in different sectors also took place.
After being briefed about the situation, the NCOC head instructed the provinces to certify the strict implementation of the SOPs.
The minister also directed the provinces to ramp up their COVID-19 vaccination drives.
The NCOC also issued special instructions for the occasion of Eidul Azha to make sure that the number of COVID-19 cases does not escalate.
On the occasion, Asad Umar stated to the attendees that the western border of the country has been closed since June 17 due to the upsetting coronavirus situation ascending in Afghanistan.
Asad added that the government is taking measures to bring back stranded Pakistanis from Afghanistan.
The nerve centre to synergize and articulate a unified national effort against COVID-19 also held that individuals who have been vaccinated would be required to quarantine for 10 days if they test positive for COVID-19.
Pakistan has reported the lowest number of Covid-19 deaths in three months.
Pakistan is presently experiencing the third wave of coronavirus which is said to be deadlier and more contagious than the previous two waves but some data suggested the spread of the disease has been contained.
According to National Command and Operations Center (NCOC), around 1,517 cases of coronavirus were reported while 17 people succumbed to the disease in the last 24 hours, taking the total death toll to 22,469.
The total number of confirmed cases reached 966,007.
As many as 909,525 patients have recovered from the disease with 1,968 critical cases.
NCOC Is Nerve Centre to synergize and articulate a unified national effort against Covid-19, and to implement the decisions of the national coordination committee on Covid-19. The centre is one window operation to collate, analyse and process information based on digital input and human intelligence across Pakistan through all provinces, AJ&K, GB and ICT dedicated representatives and centres.
