This is third polio case from Sindh and first from Punjab


Islamabad: Two new cases of Wild Polio Virus Type One (WPV1) have been confirmed in Pakistan.
According to a news report, the Regional Reference Laboratory for Polio Control at the National Institute of Health has confirmed the detection of polio cases in Qambar, Sindh, and Mandi Bahauddin, Punjab.
A laboratory official said that this is the third polio case from Sindh and the first from Punjab this year, taking the total number of polio cases in 2025 to five.
Earlier, in 2025, three cases were reported from Badin and Larkana districts of Sindh and Dera Ismail Khan district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
Last year, 74 cases of Wild Polio Virus Type One were reported across the country, of which 27 were from Balochistan, 23 from Sindh, 22 from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and one each from Punjab and Islamabad.
