Nadra to extend all possible cooperation in making error-free, transparent electoral rules
The newly and second time appointed National Database & Registration Authority (NADRA) Chairman Tariq Malik Wednesday said that the authority is taking steps on an emergency basis to finish the gap of 10 per cent unregistered women.

Friday has been reserved for the registration of women in Nadra registration offices, he announced.
Addressing a function at the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP), Tariq Malik said that the registration authority would extend all possible cooperation in making error-free and transparent electoral rules.

He told that a one-window counter has been set up for women in 688 registration offices across the country.
Nadra Chairman thought that the number of Nadra mobile registration vans for the registration of women would also be increased whereas women in remote areas would be registered at their doorsteps through registration vans.
As Nadra chairman, Mr Malik confirmed that the opposition’s demand to verify that the 2013 elections were free and fair was possible through thumb impression verification using the biometric system.
He was then sacked from his position by the then PML-N government but was immediately restored by the Islamabad High Court. He then resigned afterwards, alleging extreme pressure from the government.
The Pakistan government conferred the highest award in technology, the ‘Star of Excellence’ (Sitara-i-Imtiaz), on Mr Malik in 2013 for using technology to improve governance.
The interior ministry again on June 22 formally notified the appointment of Tariq Malik as chairman of the Nadra for a term of three years.
