Dubai: An explosion inside a container on a ship at Dubai's Jebel Ali port late Wednesday caused a large fire and was felt across the city, authorities reported.

A fire that broke out on a container ship in Dubai’s main port following a blast has been bought under control with no casualties reported.
At least three residents in the area of the blast reported that windows and doors in their homes were shaken as a result of the incident.
There were no reported deaths or injuries and the fire is under control, said authorities.
Dubai Media Office on it official twitter handle stated, "A fire has been reported to have broken out in a container within a ship anchored in Jebel Ali Port. A Dubai Civil Defense team is working to put out the blaze".
The Dubai Media Office posted a video of firefighters putting out the blaze at the port.

The fiery explosion reportedly caused buildings to shake, as far away as 15 kilometers away from the port.
However, the cause of the explosion is still unknown.
In addition, Jebel Ali is the ninth largest port in the world and the biggest in the region.
Photos and video posted online reportedly show the initial explosion and some of the aftermath.
Panicked residents filmed from their high-rises as a fiery ball illuminated the night sky. The blast was powerful enough to be seen from space by satellite.
