PM thanks Trump’s appreciation for Pakistan's role in counter-terrorism efforts
He said Pakistan will continue to partner closely with United States in securing regional peace and stability


Islamabad: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has thanked US President Donald Trump for acknowledging and appreciating Pakistan's role and support in counter-terrorism efforts in Afghanistan.
In a post on his X handle, he said Pakistan will continue to partner closely with the United States in securing regional peace and stability.
The Prime Minister stated that Pakistan has always played a critical role in counter-terrorism efforts aimed at denying safe havens to terrorists and militant groups the space to operate against any other country.
Shehbaz Sharif added that Pakistan remains steadfast in its resolve and unwavering commitment to combating terrorism in all its forms and manifestations. In this effort, he said Pakistan has rendered great sacrifices including the lives of over 80,000 of our brave soldiers and citizens.
The resolve of our leadership and people remains unflinching to eradicate the menace of terrorism from the country, continued the premier.
It is pertinent to note that US President Donald Trump, in his first address to a joint session of Congress today, thanked Pakistan for its role in the capture of ISIS terrorist Mohammad Sharifullah, who was responsible for the killing of 13 American soldiers in a bombing at Kabul airport during the withdrawal of US troops from Afghanistan in 2021.
According to a report by the American broadcaster CNN, in his first address to a joint session of Congress, US President Donald Trump, referring to the bombing at the Abbey Gate of Kabul airport in 2021, said that he was pleased to announce that they have captured the top terrorist responsible for this atrocity and he came to face the sharp sword of American justice.
Donald Trump, while thanking Islamabad for its role in the arrest, said ‘I especially want to thank the government of Pakistan for their help in capturing this beast’.
