CM Maryam Nawaz orders immediate measures to ensure supply of 100% required medicines in hospital

Lahore: Punjab Chief Minister (CM) Maryam Nawaz visited Mayo Hospital, where patients and their attendants lodged numerous complaints against the hospital administration. In response, she expressed strong dissatisfaction and severely reprimanded the hospital authorities, ordering the removal of the Medical Superintendent (MS) of Mayo Hospital from his position.
According to reports, during the visit, CM Maryam stated that the people are suffering, and no one is addressing their concerns. She questioned whether there would be no accountability to Allah, adding that the conditions at Mayo Hospital were very poor. She said people come to the hospital with hopes and expectations of treatment.
The Punjab Chief Minister further said that the hospital administration was unaware of what was happening in various wards. She pointed out that when the responsible individuals face the same treatment as the public, they would understand the situation. She questioned why the public had to suffer due to poor management.
During her visit, she listened to the complaints of patients and their attendants waiting in the corridors. One innocent child shared that her mother was ill and she had been running around all night trying to get medicines. Upon hearing this, the Chief Minister expressed severe displeasure and immediately called an emergency meeting at Mayo Hospital.
She instructed a detailed inquiry into the hospital's operations and demanded answers from all responsible individuals. She also ordered immediate measures for the payment of pending medical bills and ensured the supply of 100% required medicines in the hospital.
Maryam Nawaz directed the Secretary of Health to identify those responsible and take action against them. She also requested a comprehensive plan for the hospital’s construction and repairs.
She checked the supply of medicines, syringes, and other items in the store. Maryam Nawaz also reviewed the emergency block, TB and Chest wards, ICU, cardiology, and other departments.
