If any officer is negligent, he will be bound to pay amount of tax himself


Lahore: The Punjab government has introduced a new law to tighten the grip on tax evasion. In case of non-payment of tax, the Excise Department will take immediate action.
To make the tax collection system in Punjab effective, the ‘Punjab Finance Amendment Bill 2025’ was presented in the Punjab Assembly, and its details have been revealed.
According to the text of the bill, government officers have been given the responsibility of deducting tax and depositing it in the treasury. Every officer will be bound by this process and if any officer is negligent, he will be bound to pay the amount of this tax himself. Moreover, a recovery order will be issued against the officers.
According to the government, this amendment bill aims to prevent tax evasion and increase revenue in the government treasury. The bill has been handed over to the relevant committee of the Punjab Assembly, which will submit a report in two months.
