PM stated that empowering women is essential for prosperity and development of Pakistan


Islamabad: President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif have reiterated their commitment to empowering women.
In a message on International Women’s Day, President Asif Ali Zardari said that women constitute half of our population. Women are playing an important role in social, economic, and political development, and empowering women is essential for national development.
He stated that women must be given education, economic opportunities, and leadership roles. We have to create an all-round and equal society. Steps are needed for the protection, education, and economic independence of women. The business and private sectors should provide equal opportunities and a safe environment for women.
Asif Zardari further said that Pakistan is committed to promoting women’s rights according to international agreements. Pakistan has taken steps to increase women’s representation in all sectors.
While, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said in his message that today, on the occasion of International Women's Day, we renew that women are the architects of our society, the pillars of our homes, and are playing an important role in building our future.
He stated that women play a very important role in our lives, from classrooms to boardrooms, from fields to frontlines, Pakistani women are shaping the bright future of our nation.
The Prime Minister added that the theme of this year's International Women's Day, ‘Rights, equality, and empowerment for all women and girls,’ is a reiteration of a commitment that reminds us of our shared responsibility to build a society that is equal for all.
Shehbaz Sharif further said that our religion Islam places great emphasis on the dignity and rights of women. The Government of Pakistan has made significant progress in advancing women's rights through policy-level interventions, legal reforms, and institutional support, and our journey towards true gender equality is not over yet.
The Prime Minister continued that empowering women is essential for the prosperity and development of Pakistan. When we invest in women’s education, health, and economic independence, we not only develop individuals but also future generations.
He added that today, let us reaffirm our collective commitment to further advance respect for women’s rights and intensify our efforts to build a Pakistan where every woman’s potential is realized and every daughter’s dream is within her reach.
