Deaths of approximately 7mn citizens have been recorded in UCs' Civil Registration Management System (CRMS) across Pakistan

Islamabad: The National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) has appealed to citizens to get the ID cards of deceased family members cancelled.
According to a NADRA spokesperson, the deaths of approximately seven million citizens have been recorded in the Union Councils' Civil Registration Management System (CRMS) across the country, but their ID cards have not been canceled with NADRA, which is a legal requirement.
The spokesperson further explained that SMS messages are being sent to citizens via NADRA’s mobile numbers, urging them to ensure that a close relative of the deceased—such as a son, daughter, spouse, or parent—immediately process the cancelation of the deceased’s ID card at any NADRA center, free of charge.
It is important to note that failure to get the ID cards of deceased individuals cancelled may cause difficulties for close relatives, such as the son, daughter, spouse, or parents, in processing their own identification documents with NADRA.
Additionally, citizens are advised to correct any inaccuracies in death registration by contacting the relevant Union Council Secretary to amend the records.
