K-Electric had completed work of installing underground cable in the area


Karachi: A spokesperson for K-Electric has expressed heartfelt sympathy to the family members, describing the incident that took place in Bilal Colony, Korangi, Karachi as unfortunate.
The spokesperson said that according to initial investigations, it has been revealed that the underground electricity cable was tampered with through illegal excavation.
He stated that last week, K-Electric had completed the work of installing the underground cable in the area, however, later due to illegal excavation, the underground cable became visible on the surface.
A spokesperson for K-Electric added that all safety measures were implemented after installing the underground cable to protect K-Electric’s basic infrastructure.
He further said that further investigations into this unfortunate incident are underway.
It is pertinent to note that a 12-year-old boy, Zahid, died after being electrocuted by an electric wire while collecting garbage in Korangi Bilal Colony.
Upon receiving information about the incident, police and rescue personnel reached the spot and shifted the body to the hospital, where it was handed over to the heirs after formalities.
