Pak-Afghan Jirga agrees on ceasefire till March 11 to end tension at Torkham
Construction on both sides of the border will be banned until March 11

Khyber: A ceasefire was agreed upon in a joint jirga of the two countries to open the Pak-Afghan Torkham crossing.
According to media reports, a jirga consisting of Pak-Afghan elders was held to reduce the ongoing tension at the Torkham crossing and open the crossing, in which a ceasefire was agreed upon until March 11.
It is also reported that construction on both sides of the border will be banned until March 11. Jirga members will review the controversial constructions of Afghan forces on March 11 and the Torkham border will be opened once the dispute over the constructions adjacent to the border is resolved.
On the other hand, customs officials say that the Pak-Afghan Torkham crossing is closed for the 17th day today and the closure of the Torkham trade crossing causes a loss of $3 million daily.
According to customs officials, 10,000 people travel through the Torkham crossing daily.
