Measles severely affects immune system and can be life-threatening if it becomes severe


Karachi: Measles is rapidly spreading in Karachi, leading to dozens of children being admitted to various hospitals in the city.
As per media reports, 17 measles patients are currently under treatment at the hospital, with 8 of them being children under the age of one.
Hospital officials also reported that the number of measles cases at the National Institute of Child Health has increased, with more than six children daily being admitted to the emergency department due to measles.
At the Civil Hospital, 4 to 6 new cases are being reported daily. Currently, 12 measles patients are being treated at Civil Hospital. At Abbasi Shaheed Hospital, 6 patients have been admitted, and 12 patients have been brought to Qatar Hospital in Orangi this year so far.
Medical experts say that measles is a viral disease that primarily affects children, and children who have not been vaccinated are more prone to contracting measles. The early symptoms of measles include a runny nose, cold, cough, and rashes.
