Session will focus on current security situation, with military officials providing an in-depth briefing on evolving threats

Islamabad: Due to a rise in terrorist attacks, including the recent hijacking of the Jaffar Express and growing violence in Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Pakistan's top military leadership is set to brief lawmakers about the country's security challenges on March 18.
The National Assembly speaker has called a meeting of the Parliamentary Committee on National Security on Tuesday at 1:30 pm, following advice from Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif. The closed-door session will focus on the current security situation, with military officials providing an in-depth briefing on the evolving threats.
The meeting will be held in the National Assembly hall and will be attended by cabinet members, parliamentary leaders, and representatives from all political parties.
The military will assess both internal and external threats, especially in light of the recent increase in terrorist activities.
Security concerns have intensified, particularly in Balochistan, where militants recently hijacked a passenger train and carried out a suicide bombing targeting a security convoy.
