Starlink receives temporary approval to launch services in Pakistan
Approval is expected to significantly improve connectivity, especially in remote and underserved areas, by providing satellite internet

(Web Desk): In a step towards improving Pakistan's digital connectivity, Elon Musk's Starlink has received temporary approval to begin its services in the country. This approval was confirmed by Information Minister Shaza Fatima Khawaja on Friday.
Starlink has been granted a temporary No Objection Certificate (NOC) after following the guidance of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif. The approval came after consultations with various security and regulatory bodies.
The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) will oversee Starlink’s compliance with the country's regulations, including payment of fees and necessary licensing requirements. The minister highlighted that this development is a major milestone in Pakistan’s digital transformation, with the government making significant efforts to improve internet infrastructure under the leadership of Prime Minister Sharif.
The approval is expected to significantly improve connectivity, especially in remote and underserved areas, by providing satellite internet. Shaza emphasized that this technology will help bridge the digital divide in Pakistan.
The successful facilitation of Starlink’s registration involved cooperation from various government agencies, including the PTA, cybercrime units, and the Space Authority. Minister Shaza expressed optimism that this approval will pave the way for the official launch of satellite internet services, marking a new era for Pakistan's digital connectivity.
