Meta to make major changes in Facebook

California: Meta has been trying to turn Facebook's main feed into a discovery engine over the past few years.

That is a place where content from pages, groups, and accounts that you don't follow is shown.

Although the company says that this change is necessary to compete with TikTok, it has been heavily criticized by Facebook users because they often don't see posts from people they know.

That is why Meta is redesigning the Friends section in the Facebook app.

According to the company, this is one of the first updates under which old Facebook features are being brought back to the 21-year-old social network.

After this update, the Friends tab in the Facebook app will be used only for content from friends.

It will also include feeds and story posts, Reels, birthdays, friend requests, and suggestions for potential acquaintances will also be seen there.

Meta is trying to make Facebook feel more like a social network for users.

This is not the first time that the company has dedicated a feed exclusively to content related to friends.

Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg showed off the Friends feed in 2022, and this feed is still available but buried somewhere in the features available in the app.

It is not clear which old Facebook features are being considered by Meta to bring back.

“We're thinking about things that were fun for people on Facebook in the past but aren't available on the internet today,” Mark Zuckerberg said in a podcast.
