Discos, K-Electric consumers will get relief of Rs1.71 per unit

Islamabad: The federal government has applied to the National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) to provide more relief to electricity consumers.
The electricity prices will be reduced through an increase in tariff subsidy. The hearing on the subsidy in NEPRA will be held on April 4. The subsidy will be increased for three months from April to June.
Discos and K-Electric consumers will get a relief of Rs1.71 per unit and all consumers except lifeline consumers will be given a subsidy.
It is pertinent to note that yesterday the IMF allowed to reduce electricity tariffs by Rs1 per unit. This relief will be given from the revenue generated from the levy on captive power plants. A levy has been imposed on the use of gas by captive power plants.
The government is also working on a relief package for electricity consumers which will be announced after the approval of the IMF.
