Texas: The Texas State House of Representatives has passed a resolution to recognize March 23 as ‘Pakistan Day’.
This historic move is a significant honor for the Pakistani-American community in Texas, which comes as a recognition of their social, religious, linguistic, and economic contributions.
The resolution was introduced by State Assemblyman Dr Suleman Lalani, recognizing that Pakistani Texans have played a significant role in the development of Texas through their professional skills, cultural background, and principles of peace and prosperity.
Pakistan’s Consul General in Texas, Muhammad Aftab Chaudhry, was also present in the House on the occasion of the approval of the resolution.
On this occasion, Consul General Muhammad Aftab Chaudhry met with House Speaker Dustin Burroughs in his office and thanked him for his cooperation in passing the resolution. During the meeting, the Consul General also invited the Speaker and a delegation of other state representatives and business figures to visit Pakistan to further promote economic and cultural ties between the two countries.
Later, the Consul General also attended an Iftar dinner hosted by State Assemblyman Dr Suleiman Lalani in honor of members of the Texas Legislative Assembly and local dignitaries.
The event was held at the Texas Capitol and was attended by prominent figures from various fields.
This development is not only a source of pride for the Pakistani American community but will also pave the way for further strengthening of relations between the two countries.
