Met Office advises people to stay hydrated, avoid going outside unnecessarily

(Web Desk): Karachi experienced intense heat on Tuesday, with temperatures reaching 38.1°C, according to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD).
The weather is expected to remain hot and dry for the next 24 hours, with temperatures likely between 37°C and 39°C. Humidity was recorded at 53%, and light winds were blowing from the north. The PMD also mentioned that sea breezes are expected to return in the afternoon.
This weather forecast aligns with a prediction made by Chief Meteorologist Muhammad Afzal last week, where he warned of a significant increase in temperatures across the country in the coming months. He said urban areas, including Karachi, will experience heatwaves due to the urban heat island effect, which may worsen drought conditions.
He also predicted that most of Pakistan will face hotter and drier weather, with temperatures 2°C to 3°C higher than usual. In Karachi, daytime temperatures are expected to be 3°C to 4°C above normal, adding more discomfort for residents.
The Met Office has advised people to stay hydrated, avoid going outside unnecessarily, and conserve water to help manage the impact of the ongoing heat.
