Karachi gets a cleaner look: SSWMB puts up civic signage at key entry points
This initiative aims to foster awareness, promote civic responsibility, and improve overall visual outlook of these high-traffic areas

Karachi: In a continued effort to enhance public engagement and environmental responsibility, the Sindh Solid Waste Management Board (SSWMB) has successfully installed prominent signage boards at the entrance and exit points of Lyari Expressway, Sohrab Goth.
This initiative, a goodwill gesture by the board, aims to foster awareness, promote civic responsibility, and improve the overall visual outlook of these high-traffic areas.
The initiative has been undertaken under the dynamic leadership of Tariq Ali Nizamani, the Managing Director of SSWMB. Nizamani has been at the forefront of transforming the Board into a more community-focused, transparent, and responsive public service body. His commitment to beautification, waste management, and citizen participation is gaining significant public appreciation.
The installed boards feature clear messaging, directional guidance, and cleanliness slogans that encourage drivers and commuters to maintain hygiene, respect public spaces, and cooperate with waste disposal norms. The initiative is part of a broader plan to integrate environmental consciousness into everyday commuting experiences.
Citizens and commuters have welcomed this move, lauding SSWMB for its proactive approach and community-friendly policies. Social media reactions and on-ground feedback reflect growing public support for such civic enhancements.
"These signage boards are more than just physical markers — they represent our commitment to a cleaner and more responsible Karachi,” said Tariq Nizamani, adding that under the visionary leadership of Mayor Karachi, Barrister Murtaza Wahab, we are witnessing a renewed focus on civic improvement and public engagement. This initiative reflects his broader agenda of urban renewal and community partnership, and SSWMB is proud to play its part in turning that vision into reality.
