Event showcases over 20 entrepreneurial projects developed by second-semester students

Lahore: The Department of Film & Broadcasting, University of the Punjab marked a powerful leap in student-led innovation with the successful launch of Startup Spark Expo 25.
This groundbreaking event showcased over 20 entrepreneurial projects developed by second-semester BS Film & Broadcasting students, making it the first initiative of its kind at the School of Communication Studies.
Organized under the mentorship of Ahsan Kamray, visiting faculty member and CEO of Opportunity Club, the expo brought classroom learning to life as students launched real startups in areas such as digital marketing, online courses, home decor & interior design, production services, jewelry, custom gifting, fashion accessories, and carwash solutions. Food stalls, including local favorites like gola and fast food, added a festive spirit to the event.
The Chief Guest, Prof. Dr. Khalid Mahmood, Pro Vice Chancellor of the University of the Punjab, visited student stalls and also addressed the seminar, appreciating the creativity, business spirit, and discipline of the young entrepreneurs. Other keynote speakers included Syeda Rozy Rizvi, Convener of the Standing Committee on Student Liaison at the Lahore Chamber of Commerce & Industry (LCCI), Prof. Dr. Abida Ashraf, Director of the School of Communication Studies, Dr. Sobia Abid, Assistant Professor, Department of Film & Broadcasting and Ahsan Kamray, visiting faculty member and CEO of Opportunity Club.

The event was moderated by Mohsin Ali, President of the Film & Broadcasting Society. Guests and speakers widely applauded the initiative, noting that events like this are not just academic exercises but platforms that equip youth for Pakistan’s economic future.
A symbolic cake-cutting ceremony was held to celebrate the success of the students and the launch of their ventures. Guests were also presented with souvenirs. A special “Wall of Entrepreneurship” allowed guests to share messages of support and reflection, further amplifying the event’s spirit of empowerment and innovation. With hundreds of student visitors, several teams selling out their entire inventory, and many receiving new orders and partnerships, Startup Spark Expo 25 set a new precedent for entrepreneurial education in Pakistan, proving that when creativity meets opportunity, innovation thrives.
