Lahore: The Punjab government has announced a reduction in power tariffs to reduce electricity bills, providing relief to the people.
The 26th meeting of the provincial cabinet was held under the chairmanship of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, in which Senior Minister Marriyum Aurangzeb, Information Minister Azma Bokhari, and others participated.
Maryam Nawaz approved the reduction in tariffs of Punjab power companies to reduce bills, which can reduce the tariff by 30 to 40 percent.
The Punjab cabinet approved the reduction in tariffs of Quaid-e-Azam Thermal Power Private Limited and Punjab Thermal Power Private Limited.
In addition, the Punjab cabinet approved a grant of Rs400 million for the purchase of land from RUDA for the Journalist Housing Society Phase II.
The meeting also approved the Punjab government's helicopter overhaul, child protection policy, and the Punjab Senior Citizen Welfare Bill. In addition, the registration of electric vehicles, the Punjab Horticulture Authority Act, were approved, and the agenda for the development of green areas in Lahore in view of smog was also approved.
The cabinet meeting approved the acquisition of land for the establishment of a medical city in Lahore. In addition, approval was also given to form a Punjab Air Private Limited company, and the provision of interest-free electric taxis in Punjab.
The meeting approved funds for the provision of furniture and equipment in hospitals in Punjab. The Punjab Clean Air Program and Maryam Nawaz's Social Security Ration Cards were also approved.
In addition, funds were approved for the upgradation of bus stops in Lahore, to operate electric buses in various districts of Punjab, and the establishment of new convenience markets.
