Trump rejects Netanyahu’s call for military action against Iran

(Web Desk): Iran has refused to back down from uranium enrichment, rejecting the tough conditions set by the United States for a nuclear deal, prompting Israel to signal possible use of military force.

According to international media reports, US President Donald Trump has rejected Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu’s proposal for military action against Iran.

During a phone conversation, President Trump declined to authorize military strikes on Iran, telling Netanyahu:

“I see a real opportunity to reach a nuclear deal with Iran, and I don't want to lose that chance through military action at this point.”

News outlet Axios reported that both US and Israeli sources, speaking on condition of anonymity, confirmed the details of the call.

The 40-minute call took place a few days before a deadline set by Trump, in which Iran was given a two-month window to engage in the deal.

According to sources, Netanyahu tried to persuade Trump by arguing that Iran is skilled in delaying tactics and will not comply with the nuclear agreement terms without a credible military threat.

However, Israeli officials acknowledged that President Trump was not convinced and remained hopeful that Iran could still be brought to the negotiating table through diplomacy.

It is worth noting that President Trump and his top foreign policy team recently held a key meeting to discuss the stalemate in the nuclear deal with Iran as well as strategy on the Gaza conflict.

Meanwhile, Iranian officials have begun drafting a response to the US's latest nuclear deal proposal, which is expected to be presented later this week.
