Basic electricity tariff is Rs35.50 for current financial year

Islamabad: The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) has approved a reduction of Rs1.50 per unit in the basic electricity tariff, reportedly.
According to media reports, NEPRA has sent the decision regarding the basic electricity tariff for the next financial year to the federal government.
It is also reported that the basic electricity tariff for the next financial year has been proposed at Rs34 per unit, which is Rs35.50 for the current financial year.
The media reports suggest that the final announcement of the basic electricity tariff for consumers will be made after the approval of the federal government.
On the other hand, the monthly fuel price adjustment for May is likely to make electricity more expensive.
CPPA has requested NEPRA to reduce the electricity price by Rs0.10 per unit. The request will be heard on June 30.
The monthly electricity adjustment will not apply to electricity consumers.
