Monsoon rains hit Islamabad, Rawalpindi

Islamabad: Monsoon rains have begun in the country, and the twin cities have been flooded with rain.

In the federal capital, Islamabad, and Rawalpindi, water accumulated in low-lying areas and on roads due to heavy rains early in the morning. The water level in the Nala Lai started rising, and the rains are continuing intermittently.

In addition, clouds have started raining in Punjab, including Gujrat and Gujranwala.

Clouds reign in the provincial capital Lahore, and rain is also likely in other cities, including Faisalabad and Gujranwala.

According to the Meteorological Department, there are chances of 25 percent more rain than usual in the monsoon season this year. The intensity of rain will increase in Punjab. Due to heavy rains, there may also be concerns of urban flooding.

In addition, intermittent rains with thundershowers continue in various areas of Azad Jammu and Kashmir, which have turned the weather pleasant in Muzaffarabad and its surroundings. Rains occurred in the areas of Leepa Valley, while the weather has started to turn cold in the higher places.

The Meteorological Department has also predicted heavy rains in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan.
