Assembly also approves a supplementary budget of Rs156.069 billion

(Web Desk): The Sindh Assembly has approved the new fiscal year’s budget.
A budget of Rs3,450 billion has been passed, which is 12.9% higher than the previous fiscal year.
The Assembly also approved a supplementary budget of Rs156.069 billion.
Chief Minister Sindh presented 188 demands for grants on behalf of the government, which were approved in phases. The opposition submitted 2,002 cut motions against these demands, out of which only one was approved.
The approved cut motion was related to the Law Department’s budget, in which both the government and opposition unanimously agreed on an Rs8 billion cut.
According to Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah, this is the first time the government and opposition have been on the same page regarding a cut motion.
After the approval of the demands for grants, the House also passed the Finance Bill 2025–26.
On the occasion of the budget’s approval, Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah and Opposition Leader Ali Khursheedi congratulated Speaker Awais Qadir Shah, Deputy Speaker Anthony Naveed, and all Assembly members.
Addressing the session, the Chief Minister said the purpose of the budget is economic growth and reducing the tax burden. Various revenue charges have been cut by 50%, the annual tax on commercial vehicles has been fixed at only Rs 1,000, and motorcycle insurance will no longer be mandatory.
He also stated that since 2018, not a single development scheme has been received from the federal government.
