Karachi experiences change in weather on Saturday morning with rain showers


Lahore/Peshawar/Karachi: The death toll in rain-related incidents in Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) touched 25 on Saturday.
According to rescue officials and the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA), at least two more people died in a rain-related incident in Punjab on Saturday, taking the province’s death toll for the past four days to 14.
Separately, eight children were among 12 dead while 39 others were injured in various rain-related incidents across Punjab since Wednesday, according to a PDMA report issued today.
From Wednesday to Friday, 25 incidents were reported in various cities, which rose to 28 today, a statement by the PDMA spokesperson said.
Most of the cases involved wall and roof collapses due to torrential rains, accounting for nine out of 12 lives lost during the four-day period, according to the report.
Twenty-five people have been killed in rain-related incidents in Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
According to the Punjab Disaster Management Authority, twelve persons were killed and thirty-nine injured during various incidents across the province.
Similarly, at least eleven people have been killed and six others injured in rain related incidents in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. According to KPK Disaster Management Authority, rains and flash floods caused the most damage in Swat district.
Karachi experienced a change in weather on Saturday morning, with rain showers bringing relief across several parts of the city.
The rainfall, which began early in the day, has ended a prolonged spell of intense heat, providing a much-needed respite for residents.
The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has forecast intermittent rain and thunderstorms throughout the day, especially after noon.
