NDMA is working closely with provincial disaster management units and local authorities to monitor and respond to evolving weather situation

(Web Desk): The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) has issued a flood alert for multiple regions across Pakistan, warning of heavy rainfall in the next 24 to 48 hours.
The alert covers Sindh, Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), Azad Kashmir, and parts of Gilgit-Baltistan, with forecasts of widespread downpours.
The NDMA cautioned that the intense rainfall could lead to flash floods, urban flooding, and river overflows, particularly in low-lying areas.
In Punjab, authorities are on high alert as flood-like conditions may emerge due to water accumulation. In Sindh, several cities are expected to experience severe rainfall, increasing the risk of waterlogging and damage to infrastructure.
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, especially its northern hilly areas, is also bracing for stormy weather that could worsen flash flood conditions. In Gilgit-Baltistan, authorities are concerned about the risk of glacial melt-induced flooding. Azad Kashmir is similarly vulnerable to both heavy rains and urban flooding.
The NDMA is working closely with provincial disaster management units and local authorities to monitor and respond to the evolving weather situation.
Tragedy struck Zhob, Balochistan, where two vehicles were swept away by floodwaters, resulting in the deaths of three girls and one woman. Some survivors reported delays in rescue response.
The NDMA has urged the public to stay alert, avoid non-essential travel to high-risk areas, and follow official weather updates and advisories. Emergency services have been placed on standby.
