Exchange of fire continued for more than 20 minutes from both sides

Bannu: Two suspected terrorists were killed in an exchange of fire during a joint operation by the police and the Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) in Bannu district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
According to a statement by Regional Police Officer (RPO) Sajjad Khan, the police and CTD conducted a joint operation against criminals in Tehsil Dumail, during which the exchange of fire continued for more than 20 minutes from both sides.
The statement said, “Two terrorists were killed in the firing, while their accomplices managed to escape, taking advantage of the darkness and nearby bushes”.
The slain terrorists have been identified as Hussain Ahmed and Inam alias Toro, residents of Haider Khel area of North Waziristan.
According to the police officer, these two terrorists were involved in several major attacks and bomb blasts.
Police recovered two AK-47 rifles, four hand grenades, six magazines, 150 bullets, and two mobile phones from the scene.
Terrorist Inam was wanted by the CTD and the police in five cases of attack and murder on police personnel in several incidents, while Hussain Ahmed was wanted in three different incidents of terrorism.
RPO Sajjad Khan said that with timely action, the police and CTD foiled a possible major terrorist attack, and an operation has been intensified to arrest the escaped terrorists.
He expressed his determination that the CTD and the police are committed to establishing law and order in the area and eliminating terrorism.
It is pertinent to note that earlier this month, several suspects were arrested and a large quantity of weapons were recovered during a joint search and strike operation by the police, CTD, and the Pakistan Army in Bannu.
