Officials confirmed cloudburst in Chakwal had resulted in 424 mm of rainfall

Jhelum: A severe cloudburst in Punjab’s Chakwal district triggered heavy rainfall, leading to a flash flood situation in Jhelum. The Pakistan Army successfully rescued 29 individuals stranded by floodwaters.
A major rescue and relief operation has been underway in Jhelum for the past 24 hours under the supervision of Minister of State for Finance and Railways, Bilal Azhar Kayani.
The Deputy Commissioner of Jhelum briefed the minister on the latest developments regarding the ongoing operation.
With the support of the Pakistan Army, local authorities on Thursday morning rescued 29 people trapped by floodwaters in Dhok Marjan, located about 35 kilometers from Jhelum city.
Minister Bilal Azhar Kayani praised the swift and coordinated response by the Army, district administration, and relief agencies, commending their immediate action.
The rescued individuals were relocated to safer areas. Officials confirmed that the cloudburst in Chakwal had resulted in 424 mm of rainfall, causing such a powerful surge of water that the use of boats became impossible. The Army then deployed helicopters to evacuate stranded residents.
