According to the UN, Iran executed 901 people in 2024 — the highest annual total since 2015

(Web Desk): In Iran, two members of the terrorist organization Mujahideen-e-Khalq were executed following a court verdict over charges of carrying out homemade bomb attacks on residential buildings, training centers, and service facilities in the country.
According to a report by Iran’s official news agency Tasnim, the two members — Mehdi Hassani and Behrooz Ehsani, known by their aliases Fardin and Behzad — were executed.
The report stated that the two were accused of using launchers and handmade mortars to attack residential areas, administrative and service sites, training centers, and charitable organizations, resulting in civilian deaths. Their actions were allegedly aimed at spreading chaos in society.
The accused were said to be in contact with associates of the Mujahideen-e-Khalq organization and had rented a house in the capital, Tehran, to carry out their terrorist plans.
On the other hand, Amnesty International expressed concern over the executions, calling the trial unfair. It stated that both individuals were arrested in 2022 and were acquitted in an earlier trial, arguing that the death sentences were unjust.
According to a report by the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, 901 people were executed in Iran in 2024 — the highest number in a single year since 2015.
