Drainage issues persist in some areas

Lahore: The weather in Punjab’s capital, Lahore, turned pleasant after intermittent rain accompanied by strong winds, though residents in low-lying areas faced severe difficulties due to water accumulation.
On Sunday, a public holiday, rain fell intermittently from the morning, bringing relief from the heat and humidity. Heavy rain was reported in several areas, including Mall Road, Hall Road, Abbott Road, Shimla Pahari, Lakshmi Chowk, Mozang, Qurtaba Chowk, Jail Road, Ferozepur Road, Canal Road, Multan Road, Chauburji, Samanabad, and Gulberg, among others.
Rainfall measurements included 31 mm at the airport, 20 mm in Pani Wala Talab, 10 mm in Gulberg, 6.4 mm in Lakshmi Chowk, and 5.1 mm in Mughalpura. Additionally, 2 mm was recorded in Tajpura, 9 mm in Chowk Nakhuda, 7 mm in Farukhabad, and 1.5 mm in Gulshan Ravi.
Following the rain, water accumulated in some low-lying areas, causing inconvenience to residents. However, city administration deployed machinery to begin cleanup and drainage operations.
It is worth noting that the Meteorological Department has forecast a new spell of rainfall in Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa starting tomorrow, and authorities have been advised to remain alert and prepared for drainage and any potential emergency situations.
