"They [India] need to understand that they can be hit everywhere,” says Lt Gen Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry

(Rawalpindi): DG ISPR Lt. Gen. Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry has stated that the rumors about Field Marshal Asim Munir becoming the President of Pakistan are baseless.
In an interview with the British magazine The Economist, Director General ISPR Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry dismissed as baseless the speculations regarding Field Marshal Asim Munir being appointed as Pakistan's President.
In response to a question about Pakistan’s reaction to any Indian military action, the DG ISPR said, “This time, we will start from the East — the beginning will be a deep strike inside India.”
Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry further stated that India needs to understand that they too can be struck anywhere.
It is worth noting that some time ago, Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi, in a statement on social media, said: “We know who is behind the campaign targeting the President, the Prime Minister, and the Army Chief. We also know why this is being done and who stands to benefit from it.”
He added that there has been no discussion about the President’s resignation, nor is there any such consideration. Likewise, there is no truth to the claim that the Army Chief is aspiring to take up the office of the President.
On the other hand, PPP Parliamentarians’ Secretary General Nayyar Bukhari also refuted speculation against President Zardari, stating that “President Asif Zardari is the elected President of this country. There is no truth in these speculations. Those making such assumptions have no understanding of the Constitution and the law.”
