According to the spokesperson for Punjab's PDMA, water levels in Indian dams have risen significantly

Lahore: There is a possibility that India may release water into the Sutlej River over the next two days.
According to the spokesperson for Punjab's Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA), water levels in Indian dams have risen significantly. The Bhakra Dam is 61% full, Pong Dam 76%, and Thein Dam 64%.
Meanwhile, due to rainfall in the upper regions, there is a risk of flooding in Punjab’s rivers. PDMA Punjab, IRSA (Indus River System Authority), and the Irrigation Department are monitoring the situation of rivers and dams around the clock.
According to DG Irfan Ali Kathia, the flood at Ganda Singh point on the Sutlej River has receded from low-level flood status to normal, but there remains a risk of increased flow in the river.
A flood warning of medium to high intensity has been issued for the Chenab River at Marala, Khanki, and Qadirabad points.
PDMA Punjab has directed commissioners, deputy commissioners, and relevant departments to stay alert. Citizens residing in riverbeds have been urged to move to safer locations immediately and to cooperate with authorities in case of emergency evacuation.
The public is advised to take precautions: avoid swimming in rivers, canals, streams, and ponds, and refrain from picnicking or unnecessary crossings near rivers during flood situations.
In case of emergency, contact the PDMA Punjab helpline at 1129.
Meanwhile, the monsoon spell continues across various districts of Punjab, including Lahore. Early morning rain in Lahore, ranging from light to heavy in different areas, brought pleasant weather.
Due to the rain, the intensity of heat and humidity has decreased in the city. The minimum temperature recorded in Lahore was 28°C, with a maximum expected to reach 31°C.
According to the Meteorological Department, more rain is expected in the next 24 hours.
